On May 24, 2011, the Commission adopted a new Strategy on IPR to boost creativity and innovation. The strategy covers a number of initiatives the Commission intends to take between now and 2012 in many fields, including patents, trade marks, geographical indications, enforcement of intellectual property, enforcement by customs, copyright licensing and digital libraries.

As part of the new Strategy, the Commission also published today (May 25, 2011) a proposal for a new Border Measures Regulation, which is due to replace Regulation (EC) 1383/2003.
